HOLY FACE

HOLY FACE

“Rejoice, My Daughter; because the hour approaches when the most beautiful work under the Sun will be born.”
Our Lord To Sister Mary of St Peter

Our Lord refers here to the work of reparation to the Holy Face, which He revealed is destined to be the means of defeating atheistic Communism and restoring peace to the world.

In Tours, France during the 1840’s a young Carmelite nun,  Sister Marie of St Peter received a series of revelations from Our Lord about a powerful devotion He wished to be established worldwide — the devotion to His Holy Face.

The purpose of this devotion was to make reparation for the blasphemies and outrages of “Revolutionary men” (the Communists) — through whom God is allowing the world to be chastised for its unbelief — as well as for the blasphemies of atheists and freethinkers and others, plus, for blasphemy and the profanation of Sundays by Christians.

He said that those sins of blasphemy and the profanation of Sundays pierce His heart with a poisoned arrow.

THE GOLDEN ARROW

Our Lord gave Sister Mary this short but powerful prayer called’ “The Golden Arrow” by which a person can “shoot directly into the Heart of God” to heal the wounds inflicted on it by the malice of sinners.

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and ineffable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in Heaven, on Earth, and under the Earth by all the creatures of God and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.

After reciting this prayer, Sister Mary of St Peter was given a vision in which she saw the Sacred Heart of Jesus delightfully wounded by this “Golden Arrow” as torrents of graces streamed from it for the conversion of sinners.

REPARATION PRAYER

Offering The Holy Face of Our Lord Jesus Christ to GOD The Father in order to appease His Justice and draw down Mercy upon us.

ETERNAL FATHER, turn away Thy angry gaze from our guilty people whose face has become unsightly in Thine eyes. Look instead upon the Face of Thy Beloved Son, for this is the Face of Him in Whom Thou art well pleased. We now offer Thee this Holy Face, covered with shame and disfigured by bloody bruises in reparation for the crimes of our age in order to appease Thine anger, justly provoked against us. Because Thy Divine Son, our Redeemer, has taken upon His Head all the sins of His members, that they might be spared, we now beg of Thee, Eternal Father, to grant us Mercy. Amen.

PRAYER TO REPRODUCE THE IMAGE OF GOD IN OUR SOULS

I Salute Thee, I Adore Thee, And I Love Thee, O Adorable Face of my Beloved JESUS, as the noble stamp of divinity! Completely surrendering my soul to Thee, I most humbly beg Thee to stamp this seal upon us all, so that the Image of GOD may once more be reproduced by its imprint in our souls. Amen.

AN ASPIRATION TO THE ETERNAL FATHER

To be frequently recited during the day

ETERNAL FATHER, we offer You the Holy Face of Jesus, covered with blood, sweat, dust and spittle, in reparation for the crimes of communists, blasphemers, and for the profaners of the Holy Name and of the Holy Day. Amen.

THE CHAPLET EXPLAINED

The Chaplet of the Holy Face of Jesus is to honour the 5 Senses of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and entreating God for the Triumph of His Holy Church.

The devils on being asked what verse in the Scriptures they feared the most, replied: “That with which the 67 Psalm commences: Let God arise, and let His Enemies be scattered, and let them that hate Him flee from before His face!” They added that this verse always compelled them to take flight.

Inspired by Our Lord, this Chaplet was composed by Sister Mary of St Peter:

“Our Lord inspired me at this time to compose certain prayers of reparation in the form of a Chaplet, or a small Rosary. This Chaplet is made up of thirty-three small beads, on which is recited thirty-three times the prayer, ‘Arise, O Lord, and let Thy enemies be scattered, and let them that hate Thee flee before Thy Face!’ and also six large beads on which our recited the ejaculation, ‘My Jesus, Mercy,’ followed Glory Be…’

One day after Holy Mass our Lord appeared to me presenting me with a similar Chaplet which I saw was made of precious stones strung on a fine gold chain. Deeming myself quite unworthy of possessing such a treasure, I begged the Blessed Virgin to keep this beautiful rosary for me by placing it in her Immaculate Heart, and I also begged our Lord to attach indulgences to the recitation of this Chaplet” – Sister Mary of St Peter (From the Book, “The Golden Arrow”)

The Chaplet is composed of a Crucifix, 39 Beads, 6 of which are Large Beads and 33 of which are Small Beads.

The 33 Small Beads represent the 33 years of the mortal life of our Lord.

The first 30 recall to mind the 30 years of Jesus Private Life, and are divided into five decades of six.

The Three Small Beads recall the public life of the Savior and honour the Wounds of His Adorable Face.

A Large Bead to honour each of the senses precedes each of these five decades of six beads.

The Purpose to render homage to all the sufferings our Lord endured to the Five Senses of His Body – the Sense of Touch, Hearing, Sight, Smell, and Taste, which have their seat principally in His Holy Face.

PRAYER TO THE HOLY FACE OF JESUS

Composed by Rev. Emery Pethro of Detroit, Michigan

Holy Face of Jesus, be my joy.
Holy Face of Jesus, be my strength.
Holy Face of Jesus, be my health.
Holy Face of Jesus, be my courage.
Holy Face of Jesus, be my wisdom.
Holy Face of Jesus, Image of the Father, provide for me.
Holy Face of Jesus, Mirror of Thy Priestly Heart, be my zeal.
Holy Face of Jesus, Gift of the Spirit, show me Thy love.
Holy Face of Jesus, saddened by sorrow, grant my requests through Thy merits.
Amen.

PRAYER OF THE LITTLE FLOWER
TO THE HOLY FACE OF JESUS

O Jesus, who, in Thy cruel Passion didst become the ‘reproach of men and the Man of Sorrows,’ I worship Thy divine Face. Once it shone with the beauty and sweetness of the Divinity; but now, for my sake, it is become as ‘the face of a leper.’ Yet, in that disfigured Countenance, I recognise Thy infinite love, and I am consumed with the desire of making Thee loved by all mankind. The tears that flowed so abundantly from Thy Eyes are to me as precious pearls that I delight to gather, that with their worth I may ransom the souls of poor sinners.

O Jesus, whose Face is the sole beauty that ravishes my heart, I may not see here below the sweetness of Thy glance, nor feel the ineffable tenderness of Thy kiss, I bow to Thy Will—but I pray Thee to imprint in me Thy divine likeness, and I implore Thee so to inflame me with Thy love, that it may quickly consume me, and that I may soon reach the vision of Thy glorious Face in heaven. Amen.

PRAYER OF POPE CLEMENT IV

O God, who didst enlighten us with the light of Thy Countenance, and who, to reward the loving kindness of St Veronica, didst leave us the impression of Thy Holy Face on her veil as a remembrance, grant that, through Thy Cross and Passion, we may one day fearlessly look upon Thy Holy Face, when Thou wilt come to judge the living and the dead.

Almighty and Eternal God, through whose grace the image of the Holy Face of Thy Son doth shine forth radiantly to Thy devout people, grant us, we beseech Thee, the remission of our sins, and direct all the thoughts, words and actions of those who confide in Thy mercy, who livest and reignest with the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

ACT OF REPARATION FOR ALL THE OUTRAGES
JESUS CHRIST SUFFERED IN HIS HOLY FACE
FOR OUR PERSONAL SINS

Abridged from the History of the Holy Face of our Saviour preserved in the Cathedral at Laon

I adore and praise Thee, O Divine Jesus, Son of the Living God.

I desire to make reparation for all the outrages Thou hast endured for me, the most miserable of Thy creatures, in all the members of Thy Blessed Body, and particularly in Thy adorable Face, disfigured by blows and defiled by spittle, and hardly to he recognised through the cruel treatment which Thou didst receive from the impious Jews.

I salute Thee, O blessed Eyes, all bathed in tears for my salvation. I salute Thee, O blessed Ears, assailed by insults, blasphemies and cruel mockeries.

I salute Thee, O blessed Mouth, filled with graces and tenderness for us sinners, but embittered with vinegar and gall by the monstrous ingratitude of that people, whom Thou didst choose, from among all others.

In reparation for all these ignominies I offer Thee all the homage which is given Thee in that holy place, where Thou art pleased to be honoured with a special worship, uniting myself thereto.

Amen.

PRAYERS OF MONSIEUR DUPONT
“The Holy Man of Tours”

  • O my Saviour. Jesus, at the sight of Thy most Holy Face disfigured by suffering, at the sight of Thy most Sacred Heart, so full of love, I cry with St Augustine: “Lord Jesus, imprint on my heart Thy sacred wounds, so that I may read therein sorrow and love; sorrow, to endure every sorrow for Thee; love, to despise every love for Thee.
  • O adorable Face of my Jesus, so mercifully bowed upon the tree of the Cross on the day of Thy Passion, for the salvation of men, now inclined in Thy pity towards us, poor sinners; cast upon us a look of compassion, and receive us to the kiss of peace. Amen
  • O Lord Jesus Christ, in presenting ourselves before Thy adorable Face, to beg of Thee the graces we most need, we beseech Thee, to give us above all things the disposition of never refusing at any time to do what Thou requirest of us by Thy commandments and divine inspirations. Amen.
  • Be merciful to us, O my God, and reject not our prayers when we call on Thy Name in the midst of our afflictions, and seek Thy adorable Face with loving hearts. Amen.
  • O Almighty and Eternal God, look upon the Face of Thy Son, Jesus. We present it to Thee with confidence to implore Thy pardon. The All-Merciful Advocate opens His Mouth to plead our cause: hearken to His voice, behold His tears, O God, and, through His infinite merits, listen to Him when He intercedes for us, poor sinners. Amen.
  • May I die consumed by an ardent thirst to see the adorable Face of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! (St Edmund).

PROMISES

All those who honour My Face in a spirit of reparation will by so doing perform the office of the pious Veronica. According to the care they take in making reparation to My Face, disfigured by blasphemers, so will I take care of their souls which have been disfigured by sin. My Face is the seal of the Divinity, which has the virtue of reproducing in souls the image of God.

Those who by words, prayers or writing defend My cause in this Work of Reparation I will defend before My Father, and will give them My Kingdom.

Through this Holy Face you will obtain the conversion of many sinners.

By offering My Face to My Eternal Father, nothing that you ask in virtue of the Holy Face will be refused.

By My Holy Face, they will work wonders, appease the anger of God and draw down Mercy on sinners.

Just as in an earthly kingdom money which is stamped with the picture of the sovereign or ruling executive of the country procures whatever one desires to purchase, so likewise in the Kingdom of Heaven, you shall obtain all that you desire by offering the coin of My precious Humanity which is My adorable Face.

Those who on earth contemplate the Wounds of My Face shall in Heaven behold it radiant with glory.

They will receive in their souls a bright and constant irradiation of My Divinity, that by their likeness to My Face they shall shine with particular splendour in Heaven.

I will defend them, I will preserve them and I assure them of Final Perseverance.

Turn this Divine gift to good profit, for the treasure of My Holy Face in itself possesses such tremendous value that through it all the affairs of My household can readily be settled.
